Performance Groups

University Choir & orchestra

The University Choir & Orchestra is Jessup Music's flagship performance group, with over 100 students. The University Choir & Orchestra performs 25 concerts a year, and tours twice annually to Oregon, Northern California, the Bay Area, and Central California. The University Choir & Orchestra is directed by Tom Ruscica.

crossroads

The Crossroads performance group is a small ensemble, featuring students with the highest level of musicianship . Crossroads performs locally in churches, features student arrangements, and covers a wide range of genres, including folk, a cappella, rock, and contemporary worship.

Chamber orchestra

Jessup Chamber Orchestra performs a variety of chamber repertoire from all eras of classical music, but focusing on Baroque and Classical timeframes. This ensemble contributes to the campus and general communities through artistic and spiritual expression. Students are taught techniques in sight reading, expression, phrasing, and dynamics as it pertains to classical repertoire.

Jessup Concert Choir

Jessup Concert Choir is the women's ensemble, featuring 40 students. Jessup Concert Choir performs locally in churches, and their repertoire includes gospel, worship anthems, spirituals, and classical songs. Jessup Concert Choir is directed by Lyndsay Barham.

jazz band

The Jessup Jazz Band performs a variety of jazz repertoire and is designed to expose students to the best of jazz ensemble literature. This ensemble contributes to the campus and general communities through artistic and spiritual expression. Students are taught techniques unique to jazz, improvisation, and sight-reading. Included in the repertoire are jazz standards, Latin jazz, swing, soul jazz, and blues.
